Nothing can surprise your loved ones more than announcing a pregnancy – except maybe when you're expecting double trouble!
Double the pregnancy means double the excitement, and we want to make sure you keep this excitement going with your announcement.
Whether you want to do it in person or over social media, we have ideas for everyone.
Before we get into the announcements, a quick word about when you should reveal your happy news.
The question above doesn't have a one-size-fits-all answer. It's down to whenever the parents feel comfortable. But there are a few things you might want to keep in mind.
According to Mainline Health , ultrasounds are conducted from around 6 to 8 weeks, and they can confirm if there is a heartbeat and if the pregnancy is growing.
For some people, telling close family members or friends can be beneficial , as they can join in on the excitement and provide support during early pregnancy. Typically, though, people decide to wait a little longer.
The 14-week mark is when most people share their pregnancy news due to the risk of miscarriage dropping significantly after the first trimester (around 14 weeks).
Remember, it's your choice when and how you announce your pregnancy – it's completely personal to you.
As we said, we have ideas for every parent! So, whether you're looking for comical or creative twin pregnancy announcement ideas, we should have something for you.
What we'll be covering:
If you're not sure which route to take, most of our suggestions can be adapted for both in-person and social media announcements. |
Is your twin pregnancy a complete surprise to you, let alone friends and family? Well, this is the perfect opportunity to give them a shock of a lifetime (in a good way).
Use a letter board and write the words, 'We're Just As Shocked As You.' There's Two!
Then, use your board as a centerpiece for a photo. Place baby items around the board, making sure there are two of each, such as two one-pieces or two pacifiers. Add your baby scans if you can.
And there you have it, a photo op to share over text, on socials, or even in person.
Put your loved ones to the test (albeit not that hard of a test) with your family quiz.
Take a photo of you, your spouse, and other children standing in a line, leaving a gap between the children and mom. Now, you'll have to use your editing skills.
Place a plus sign in the gap, an equals sign after mom, and the number of your new family members after that.
Use this photo for your announcement, and see how long it takes everyone to realize it's twins!

Announce your twins with this funny pregnancy announcement idea, which is most effective when used at a gathering or party.
Maybe you're hosting a little get-together with friends and family, but little do they know they're at your pregnancy announcement party.
All mom has to do is very obviously eat for three. For example, three plates, three drinks, having a BBQ? Put three burgers on your plate. Whatever you have to do , keep it going until somebody realizes.
It's also a great way to satisfy those pregnancy cravings , we think.
The classic bun-in-the-oven metaphor can be brought to life with this cute twins announcement.
If you and your partner want to tell one or two people (parents?) about your happy news before informing the masses, invite them to your home with two cinnamon buns cooking in the oven.
They'll ultimately ask, "What's that smell?" to which you'll take the two buns out of the oven.
Hopefully, they get it straight away; if not, have a backup plan. We all know what parents are like.
An obvious, yet still valid, way to announce your twin pregnancy is with two positive pregnancy tests.
Decorate the inside of a cardboard box with tissue paper, and, if you’ve started nesting, different baby items. Carefully place your two positive pregnancy tests inside the box, and take a picture or give the box to a loved one.
"Nesting during pregnancy is the overwhelming desire to get your home ready for your new baby.”, according to the APA . “The nesting instinct is strongest in the later weeks coming upon delivery.” |
This could be a sweet way for a mom-to-be to tell her partner if they don't know yet.
For the more creative parents-to-be or parents in the police force, this one’s for you.
Picture this: two handcuffs, two orange one-pieces with the words "I just spent nine months on the inside", and a sign that says "Two in Custody, Release Date: MM/DD/YYYY."
You could also add your baby scans so the display still has that element of warmth.
Often twin pregnancies are announced with two one-pieces, and if you want to keep it simple, you can do the same.
One with the word "Double" and one with "Trouble".
A low-key idea bound to get your loved ones excited.
Now is also a good time to get your bedside bassinets ready for the arrival of your double-troubles – and there’s no better choice than SnüzPod!
Perhaps you've been on an IVF journey, or maybe you've found it difficult to conceive, and you'd like to announce your miracle pregnancy whilst paying homage to your journey.
A beautiful way to do this is to take a photo of two one-pieces, one with the words "Prayed for one" and the other "Blessed with two."
An understated but lovely way to inform your loved ones of your new babies.
We're getting creative again, but we think this idea is super cute and charming.
If you're a little further on in your pregnancy and have a bump before your big announcement, all you need is some skin paint.
Get your other half to paint 4 small handprints on your bump and take a picture. Share this on socials, or turn the photo into a card to send to your family.
Finally, share some quotes on your preferred social media account, tagging your spouse in the posts.
You could accompany this with any of the social media ideas above or simply post it on its own.
Some examples include:
"Twice the joy, twice the love, and twice the blessings from above."
"Double the giggles, double the grins, double the trouble when you're blessed with twins!"
"There are two things in life for which we are never prepared: Twins."
"Sleeping is difficult at the moment. I lay on one side and there's a baby. I lay on the other side, and there's another!"
When you're pregnant with more than one baby, there are more risks involved. So it's really important that you do everything you can to keep yourself and the babies healthy during pregnancy.
So, before you get caught up in the announcement planning (we know, we know, we've given you some great ideas), here is some advice from John Hopkins Medicine:
